Join us for Ash Lawn-Highland’s annual museum open house on Sunday, November 16!
From 11 am to 5 pm, we’ll offer free admission for local residents (Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Augusta, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, Orange and Rockingham), including tours of the Monroe house and family friendly activities.
From 12 to 4 pm, visitors will also have the chance to meet with Colonel Monroe and the League of Most Interesting Gentlemen, including some of his esteemed colleagues: Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and Albert Gallatin.
The house tour, revised in 2013, offers new content about Monroe’s contributions to the turbulent early decades of the United States. The guided tour also follows a new route through the original structure, giving visitors a greater understanding of the early architecture.
