On Sunday, October 19 from 12 to 4 pm, Ash Lawn-Highland, in partnership with the Artisans’ Center of Virginia, will celebrate the artisans whose work are featured in the Museum Shop Artisans’ Room. The Artisans’ Room, which opened in the fall of 2013, showcases the work of juried Virginia artists and artisans. Handmade items include objects in wood, metal, glass, textile, and ceramic, and reflect some of the best local artistry.
This celebration will include activities and demonstrations by several local artists and artisans, refreshments, and live music by acoustic soloist Timothy Seaman, known for his distinctive original hammered dulcimer and flute music. Free and open to the public, Ash Lawn-Highland’s Artisan Open House is the perfect opportunity to find local, handmade holiday gifts for family and friends.
Meet with artisans and learn more about their work! Participants include Kary Haun (pottery), Starke Smith (woodworking), Alex Newell (leather goods), Jane Hicks (quilting), Meg Chevalier (jewelery), Sandy Cason (wreath making), Jo Perez (Dark Hollow Stained Glass), Kim Radcliffe (beeswax candle making), The Happy Tomato, Made by Mieka, and Blue Ridge Snack Company.
The Museum Shop is open for shopping seven days a week during Ash Lawn-Highland operating hours (9AM to 6 PM, March through October; 11 AM to 5 PM, November through April).
